Wedding Print
Why
As a physical and virtual creator, I knew I wanted to be responsible for creating a consistent and lovely experience for the guests of my husband and I’s wedding. It was of utmost importance to me that our guests have a harmonious and easy experience from receiving their invitations, RSVP’ing, arriving, and eventually partaking in our special day with us. The event was a passion project of mine, and one deeply personal to me as the entire day was hosted at my childhood home.
What
Much of the experience was defined by the physical items we created for the benefit of our guests. It began with the invitation that the guests received, which bled into the website where they could RSVP and read our love story. Then when the guests arrived at the venue there was signage that led our guests through the space so they knew where to be and when. All of the signage was custom and included a welcome sign, a welcome mirror, a table assignment mirror, menus for the cocktail hour, and signs for each table. Beyond what I had personally designed, there was also the factor of decoration which greatly enhanced the experience, it included the stunning florals, and specially-selected vintage pottery.
How
The curated experience for the wedding was established and maintained through consistency. The entire wedding followed a strict color palette, including the florals. Along with the use of color, the event also maintained consistent typefaces from the invitation, to the website, to the signage. This involved designing and constructing the signage myself, including creating custom vinyl and sourcing custom frames. Much of what was used on the special day was fabricated by hand including all the table cloths and napkins. The experience we shaped for our guests was created with love; which is what my husband and I wanted to celebrate and show to all of our friends and family. I am incredibly proud of how everything turned out and the experience taught me how rewarding consistent design can be.
